Dead 6.0 Any Ideas?

Dead 6.0 Any Ideas?

I have an 05 KingRanch w/ 52k miles. Running strong as ever, no chugs, or smoke, nothing out of the ordinary. I am 1 block from the house and it quits. Stops running w/ no warning, and will not start. Great power for turn-over but no bang at all. Towed to dealer yesterday, they worked on it all day today. No codes thrown and the FORD Master minds havent a clue. They stated they will start tearin down the engine tomorrow.

Any thoughts?

I tell ya fellas...........if Ford would use Cummins, they would have a seller! I took a chance in this purchase but..........

I had 3000 miles and they had to drop the tranny to fix an oil leak. Next the turbo went south at 20k. Its been pulling to the right since new, you wouldn't believe how many times I have been back for that.

Never had a prob w/ my 2000 Cummins 2500. I love this F250 but DANG!

First off find a new dealer with a "Qualified & Certified" 6.0 tech. Sounds like the guys where you are going don't have a clue.

More than likely there is a leak at the Hpop fitting. They need to diagnose it for this before they start tearing things apart.

Go trade it in on a Dodge with a Cummins in it. You will be much, much happier.........So will we.

Id rather drive a 6.0 with problems than a dodge

If you are looking for help / advice you would have better success by leaving out the cummins praise here at a Ford Enthusiasts site.

Learned my lesson........I'll just read for now on and not post with all the touchyness around here.............

mrlxh can post about tires and not have probs.......who cares, there are 400 posts about tires.

I had a real prob and wanted some expert opinions. Done.............

If they will do high pressure oil diagnostics, they will probably find either a blown out o-ring on an injector, or the hpop fitting has failed.

If you want help...chill out....there are lots of experts here. If you just want to complain and campaign for cummins...then be done.

Trying to help you here.

vloney offers a good points. Are there any symptoms, at all, that you can provide? And do you have any mods...like a programmer?

It was a high pressure coupler on the rear of the engine. I guess Ford has re-designed these.

yeah, thats the fitting I was talking about. When it goes, it just shuts 'em off. Good you got it fixed!

Don't let a couple guys getting off topic scare you away. When it comes to personal preference between engines, it can get pretty heated. Give this thread a little time and some guys with a lot of experience will find you. Good luck.
