I was just wondering how loud is it going to be if I run a straight pipe on my truck? I mean is it going to be too loud? I just put a Cat delete on and I can notice the turbo whistle, but that's about it. Will it be too annoying, or just loud enough. Debating between straight pipe or just a turbo-back. Just looking for some more sound. Thanks.
Kinda need to know what year model truck, but the real difference will be the amount of turbo whistle you'll hear. 03--really loud whistle. 04 whistle's but not as bad. not sure about the 05's or 06's. They all sound really sweet straight piped tho---kinda lack a dirt tracka on sattiday nite lettin it ripppppppp.
I'm considering a muffler delete pipe myself, but scared to remove the cat until the warranty is up. After the 100,000 mark, I'm sure I'll be more bold about mods.
Im straight piped, it starts barking around 2200 rpms, anywhere under that it isnt loud, I love how these trucks sound straight piped, and so does everyone else that hears it. The cummins and duramaxs dont sound near as good straight piped.
Thanks for the info. I have an 03. I had my 99 straight piped and could only hear it when you were right by the exhaust tip. I have heard one other 03 straight piped and loved it, so am looking forward to getting mine done. Besides, why isnt that as good if not better than all these guys spending $ on aftermarked exhausts
a-rod is your exhaust all factory? did u just put in a cat delete pipe and cut the muffler out and put straight pipe in its place? do u have any warranty issues with the muff cut out? i have an 06 ps and i cant wait to get mine wto whistle, i will start with cat delete pipe first and see how much a difference that makes and then wait till warranty is up to cut the muff.....

As far as warranty goes, you'd be much better off doing a muffler delete and leave the cat on. Fereral regulation on the cat. Muffler removal does nothing warranty-wise. I left my cat on and put in muffler delete...sounds really good.....

I just cut the muffler out, welded a straight piece of pipe in its place, and did the same with the cat. They sound good with just the muffler delete, but you dont get the whislte untill you remove the cat. My dealership doenst have a problem with exahust mods or air inntake mods.
Ok , i am going to put a cat delete pipe on in place of the cat, just in case they start doing emission testing on these trucks i can pass by just bolting the cat back on, and if my wife will let me i am going to cut the muffler off and straight pipe it, how much did they charge u to cut the muff and straight pipe that part of it? did u notice any improvement in the engine performance after u cut the muff and cat out? did u notice any negative effects from doing this? do u have a egt guage, if so did it lower your egt's after u cut the cat and muff out?
