Need Flash info: 05B35

"To reflash or not reflash" And that is the question. Anyone out there heard anything aobut the latest Flash update? 05B35. Just got the TSB letter today (1/23/06) in the mail. It leads me to believe I might be lacking in "performance and reliability". The truck is running great and not a single problem?! With the computer that is. Drive-shaft and tire Bal. issues but fixed now. So anyone out there had this done? Improvement or not? This might be a post for the Tech folder. Thanks guys/gals. 2005 F-250 FX-4 CC/SB

My truck was reflashed when they were trying to determine what was wrong with my tachometer. Don’t know exactly what it fixed but it is a little sluggish on cold mornings if I don’t let the truck warm up first

I just got the same letter it says "The engine control modules on your vehicle may not be calibrated to the latest software levels, adversely affecting the performance and reliability of the engine" then it says "Note: After the update, vehicles operated in cold weather may experiance a small reduction in acceleration during the first few minutes of cold engine operation." Well, I live in Nebraska so guess I'll have a "small reduction in acceleration" . Guess I'll just do it and see what happens!

I have noticed this! no big deal, by the time I am down the street it goes away. It just feels a little under power.

Ahhh, ya shouldn't run 'em for performance when cold anyway. Until mine is at operating temp, I **** off everyone on the road, behind me that is. I WONT accellerate hard until she's good and warm. Bad stuff on any engine, especially a diesel.

Mine is stock no performance flashes or pluggins at this time. I usually warm my truck up before driving it.. but, every now and then I am running late and have to get going. but i don't hammer on it until the water temp guage comes up to normal operating temp.

Post updates on this flash...

Not knowing that my '05 was even in need of a 'reflash' I went to my dealer to see my service advisor (sold him my toolbox, needed the keys to it.. long story there), anyways; I asked if he'd check to see that I am up to date (before I chip it), and so he did, come to find out I was WAYYY behind on my flashes, never had one done since I've owned it. Up pops "#05B35" so he did that one. BTW, had no ill effects on truck, I noticed right off it idles smoother. No problems with cold mornings either.
As the tech was doing THIS flash, in comes another flash update that was needed.... "#05B32--All 05 F-Series & Excursions w/ 6.0L Diesel Engine - De-Gas bottle fluid level adjustment & label." He claimed that this was a rare flash, thinking that it only pertained to the 6-speeds (such as mine)? Who knows? I do know that the flashes seem to have helped it, and add to that ;the EGR valve got pillaged later that afternoon! lol

I got a letter today for my 05 F250. The recall code is 05B32 not 05B35, any difference?

The 05B32 is a label adjustment for the coolent full level. The ...35 is the actual flash "program" for the computer

Thumbs up

I just had all the Recall work done last week (1/12/06) recalls 05e15 & 05s34. I can honestly say that the truck runs much better, although I wouldnt have ever known the difference if I didnt get the recalls and flash done ..

It seems a touch louder, but stronger in idle and stronger in power just in general. The engine seems alot more alive than pre-flash/recall. Just my 2 cents.

A few weeks ago I took my 03 6.0 in for an oil change and the next morning when I started it, I thought there was something wrong with the engine. I looked at my paperwork and there is no indication that a re-flash was done. Can I get the flash that was in there vefore I brought it in redone?

Someone should dyno their engine before and after taking it in for the new reflash. I suppose it would depend on how bad of a flash you had before. I feel that I have a pretty good flash as delivered from the original purchase, so I wonder if it could only go downhill from here.

Ford must be pretty confident that this is a good flash or they wouldn't have rung the dinner bell for everyone to come and get it.
