Has anyone tried the Baldwin set up? http://www.adiesel.com/prodinfo.php?stocknumber=BK1327
I can't find much info on it, like mounting position, etc. I wonder if it can be mounted down on the frame like the oilguard set up.
I haven't used that one myself, but Baldwin is typically a good filter. The base looks pretty universal, so it comes down to the element. I don't see why you couldn't mount it down on the frame, except it it pretty long (almost 12") and you might have some ground clearance concerns. Baldwin does make a 10" version of the same filter though, here: http://www.adiesel.com/prodinfo.php?stocknumber=B7575
just wondering why this unit is only 63 bucks and the oil gaurd setup is 230? Is the oil gaurd that much of a better filter system to pay an extra 180 dollars? I would like to get a oil bypass system and any advice would be helpful since they all look about the same and cost anywhere from 60-500 dollars. Thanks
If you're thinking of duplicating what I did, mail me at the link below and I'll give you the hydraulic fittings numbers. The filter base is a Baldwin OB1305, and it was around $25 from FleetPride. The B164's are under $8 each, same place. I had the hoses locally fabbed at a local hydraulic shop for around $60. I think the steel channel was $5, and the grade 8 bolts weren't much more than that.
