I had an ear plugged with wax and I tried one of the ear wax removal ear drops. I don't remember which brand that first one was but I used it for a week with no help. Before going to the doctor I tried another brand -- Vizene (sp?), same brand as the eye drops. It worked the first time.

I live at sea level. if I sit around the house or work in the shop for two or three days my ears plug Big time. Doc said to go drive up a mountain road like 6 or 7k above sea level. and POP POP. It's a miracle I can here. Really, it works for me.

A warm ziploc bag of rice works about like the hot water bottle. Seals up around you ear better and is more comfortable to lay on though. I went through the same thing about a month ago. Probably should still get them cleaned by a doc.

Try the shower with as high preassure you can get. If that doesnt help you try to get hold of a 20 cc syringe and fill with warm water and flush. Works for me. get plugs now and then because I stuff things in my ears all the time

I use a flat toothpick to clean my ears. Doc says that's stuped but I can drag the wax out rather than push in in as a Q Tip would.

Looks like your getting alot of replies, and I'm sure there's nothing I can offer that hasn't already been discussed. I do know that you should be very careful with the ears. You can cause irreversable damage to them if you do something to damage the ear drum. Go see your doc!
With that said, I will add a little levity.
Try eating fruit. That seemed to have helped alot with another oraphace I had clogged.

Careful with any water pressure in the ear. It isn't hard to really mess them up. I wouldn't do it.

I have always been the least likely to go to a doc. Thought my ear was plugged, fooled around a few days before going.

Normal summer day, my left ear plugged up (?) or so I thought. Tried four or five different remedies and no luck. Couldn't hear anything from my left ear. Went to the doc and he said my ear canal was clear and clean. Went to a specialist and he said I had "sudden hearing loss syndrom" and I had a 50/50 chance that my hearing would come back. It didn't. If I had gone to the doc right away, they may have been able to do something.

Two years later and I haven't heard a thing in my left ear since.

Yikes! Another thing to add to my list of medical-type fears.

I've used a few drops of peroxide in my ears to clear them. it's a weird feeling, but the peroxide boils up and loosens the earwax up.
