285 tires

Well I just installed a new set of BFG at Ko's

285/75/16 load range E

I found that his tire carries about 300lbs higher rating than a 265 range E tire

Very pleased with the ride and the fit. I do have a slight rub (tire is at full lock and dropping into a little 'hole') on the driver side but I do have some pretty thick flaps.. so I do not think this would be a problem if you do not have any heavy flaps.

my truck is an 01 F350 Crew Cab, 8' bed, 7.3 automatic 4x4
I pull a 16' car trailer and a 32' car trailer.

The truck sits much nicer now.... brought the whole truck up about an inch.

Road noise is minimal.

It is so nice to have new rubber between you and the road!

I have the same size tires on my F-350 4X4. I did a little math and figured they were a little less than 5% bigger than stock so when I figure my fuel mileage, I add the 5% back in. Simple put, multiply the miles driven by 1.05

I just put Yoko Geolander AT + II in this size...MAYBE thats why I have seen my milage decrease lately. I was around 17-18 with 265s and now i am seeing 14-15 I guess I forgot the correction factor of 3%. Still doesnt seem right thought. Maybe check tire pressure or something...I wouldnt think it would make THAT much of a difference???? Could be a boost leak also? Or the new 15 ppm fuel and "winter blend".

would having 245/75/16 or stock 265/75/16 or the 285/75/16's throw off the speedometer? because i have the 245's and my speedometer is off like 5 mph. says im doing 70 when its really like 65mph.

Mine had 265s stock, when i went to 285s, i checked it with gps, and the radar signs, and now its within 2mph, so with the stock tires it was off

i was just informed in the super duty forum that they now offer and e rate 285, it is news to me as well. heres the linky

http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/specs/all-terrain-t-a-ko/44.html

they are a great tire if you dont live on gravel, these things throw stones like crazy, they will ruin your under body if you drive gravel regularly. Also seem to take a lot to turn them, I lost about 2-3 mpg while running the 265 version vs. the pirelli strs i currently have

When i went from 265 bfg ats to 285 bridgestone dueler at revos, my calculater milage didnt actually change, meaning my milage actually went up, due to larger tires/ more distance traveled per revolution

From: West Michigan,
the heavier tread pattern is what ate the fuel milage, not the size i'm guessing, I am looking ot 285's as well, but i want an e rated tire and wil not run the BFG AT, I like my trucks paint the way it is, I drive 2 miles of gravel every day.

Maybe others will start to introduce 285 e's soon.

The set I have is deffinetly a load range E.

I drive some gravel too. I have notice I pic up a little but not much. That is just my experience. I have some nice heavy flaps that are wide enough to cover the tread. I only hear the gravel hit the fenderwell.

You may also want to lok at the commercial line from BFG. They had some nice 265's in there. They have a similar pattern but not so aggressive. The price I was quoted on that tire was much less than the 285 or a 265 KO tire.

Cooper makes a nice tires too. I have some of the STT"S on our work trucks. They seem to work well also.

so going to the 285's could make my speedometer read more accuretly? though im far from needing new tires. my 245's have tons of tread left. and everyone is pumping what kind of PSI into there tires? 65psi all around?

I am running 70 in the front and 65 in the rear.

Have not checked the speedo yet. I have 'heard' that it is very close to not bother.
