73 f100 with a 302 2brl,
just rebuilt eng and had heads rebuilt, runs like crap no.2 cylinder sounds like valves ticking but after checking ,it's the sparking that is making the ticking in the cylinder because if i pull the plug wire off the ticking sound stops, is this a stuck valve??? it ran perfect for about 200 miles.
I took a temp reading of header at no.2 and was about 320 degrees and all others were over 999 degrees my meter only shows tripple digits.
Replace the wire and plug. Make sure you use dielectric grease on ALL terminals. The ticking is the spark jumping to ground on the OUTSIDE of the cylinder.
already pulled the plug and is good .035, but i haven't replaced it with another one yet as MIL!ION sugested, don't think that will work either but will try anything to keep from pulling the head again. already had to pull the head on the drivers side last week because the no. 8 exhaust valve was stuck. got that fixed and everything ran perfect for 200 miles.
Pull the valve cover and roll the engine over with the starter with the coil wire off. Watch the rocker motion on that cylinder to see if it's opening the valve the same as the rest. Also check that the rocker isn't loose. Lots of wiped cam lobes here lately, yours could be one.
