Just replaced disks and pads in my '87 and can't seem to get rid of the squeak coming from the front r/h side at low speeds...is quiet above 10mph. Tried cleaning them already with a wire brush.
Are the caliper retaining pins new and installed correctly....were the calipers in Vgood condition. Were the brake hoses original, after a short drive do you feel the squeaking brake warmer than the other, maybe a dragging caliper
When I apply the brakes the squeak stops...not sure if that indicates a dragging caliper. Pins are installed correctly and in good shape...would a little lube on the pins help the caliper slide away from the disk and stop the squeak? The flex lines on the caliper are originals and need replacing, not sure how this would help.
Use a little bit of "Anti-seize" on the pins, it will last longer than grease. I usually remove my pins every six month. It is amazing how quickly you get rust built-up, especially in wet weather like we have here in BC.
Did you re-install the spring clip on the back of the caliper that puts a bid of pressure onto the pads pushing them into the caliper? Easily forgotten. Maybe time to get new clips, the factory ones rust terribly and loose tension over time.
