Does anyone know how to adjust the MLP (Manual Lever Position) sensor? My manuel shows using a special algnment tool. Has anyone done it without this tool? I would think you could just loosen the two bolts and adjust it, but wanted to know if anyone has done this before. The gear selector in dash does not line up correctly. Any suggestions? This is on a 1988 F-150 5.8L with C6 transmission.

Reason: new information
Got this out of my manual. Loosen the 2 Neutral Safety Switch (MLP)retaining bolts. Place the transmission selector lever in neutral. Rotate the switch and insert a No. 43 drill bit (shank end) into the guage pin holes of the switch. You may only have 1 hole. The drill shank should be inserted about a 1/2 inch into the hole(s). Tighten the switch retaining bolts securely, then remove the drill bit from the switch. Check the operation of the switch. The back-up lights should come on only when the transmission is in Reverse and the engine should start only with the transmission lever in Park and Neutral
Thats what I was thinking if you just were able to stick something in there to align it. I'm not sure what size a No. 43 drill bit would be, but thanks for the info.
