Snowshoe White - need accurate Vendor and Color Code
My 55 Banner Blue is in the paint shop now and the color recipie samples for the Snowshoe WHite needed for wheels and grille all look quite creamy compared to pre-strip color. Its tough to believe that color might have faded and chalked to the brighter old paint I had.
PPG_Ditzler actually pops up the color name COLONIAL white for 1955 "E" code. Dupont's is the right name but still a cream not bright white.
Is Snowhshoe actually a little off white to cream (In other words, should I realx and put it on ? Suggest vendor / color code?? THX:-X23

the colonial white 1956 E from Ditzler-PPG is formulated somewhat creamier than the E 1955 that I was already concerned about. We have sprayed samples of each color. I found an unstripped parking light door by accident yesterday, not bad condition, much whiter than these 2 samples. Hence, I'm still searching. Maybe the original paint did fade and chaulk to that brighter white, but its hard to believe!

Snowshoe White - need accurate Vendor and Color Code
To close the story, I had paint matched to the parking light doors that were unstripped, and looked more like every physical truck and gallery internet shot I had seen. Will do wheels, grille, bumpers in the resultant PPG 'Galaxy White".
So I think this color issue is still open really. In order of whitest to 'tannest" (creamiest?) of the flavors we made up from codes and names
galaxy white- PPG from color match
Old English White- came up as '55 "E" code for cars
Colonial White- PPG the '56 "E" code
Snowshoe White- PPG the PPG truck '55 "E" code.
Will post up new shot on gallery when done!
Great club, info, discussions and irreverence!
