Anybody here running an original surge tank and radiator on their 360 FE motor? If you did originally and changed over to a 1 piece radiator let me know which brand out there would be a correct replacement for the 2 piece surge tank and radiator set up. Also has anyone ever tried one of these "Bar's Leaks" Liquid Alumunum radiator stop leak? if so does it really work for a small pin hole located at the weld seam. Only leaks when unit is installed and radiator gets hot. With a cold tank and radiator leak tester, "No leaks"...Any ideas?
If it's like you said at the weld seam it will flex with pressure and thero expansion and keep leaking if not more as the crack increases. Best to have it resoldered, BTW they were a leaking problem years ago if it's an original unit.
Repops are suppose to be improved. Question is why you have one as this adds to more things to go wrong or fail as you already know?
A large radiator with a coolant recovery tank is all that's needed unless this is a show 427 powered vehicle.
Get an overflow bottle and call it a day. The tank is not original anyhow. Or like have a tube going to never never land and a BOTTLE OF WATER IN THE BACK .
