hey guys i know this has been asked many times before but i just can't seem to find what motor i have. i just bought a 1978 f 150 truck and pulled the motor the other day. there are no markings on the block except for on driver side by the pan rail 8620 W, front of the block has the 55 352 and the heads say c7ae-a and the intake manifold says c9ae9425b. i was going to measure the stroke but I figured I would ask you guys first to see what you think I have. Thanks for all the help.
The 8620 is probably a 8G20 which breaks down to a 68/July/20th date code for the block. The heads are std issue 67 and the intake a 69 by the casting numbers. I'd say it could be anything inside and check the stroke. If your rebuilding it check the crank and rods numbers and post them. Measure the bore and see where your at.
Welcome to FTE...watch out for Russ... just kidding
If there are no other ID casting numbers on the block, you've either got a 360 or 390. I've had two 68 blocks as such. Neither had casting numbers, only the 352 and date codes.
