I'm trying to pick out a carb for my 77' 460. Its going to be a 60/40 street to mud truck. Looking at 400-450 hp. It seems like everyone bounces back and forth between the 750cfm which seems a little high and 600/650 which seems low. MY question is what carb brand, carb size would you all suggest. And secondly what does a double pumper carb do for you. I see these once in a while and notice they're significantly higher priced and was wondering if this increase in price is worth it.
thanks
I run a 750 Edelbrock carb on mine.
A double pumper, has mechanically opened rear barrels and an accelerator pump for the rear barrels. They are mostly recommended for manual trannys or an auto with a high stall converter because they dump alot of fuel when first opened up and an engine at low rpms, can't really handle all of that at once.
