I'm just wondering if anyone knew about any junkyards in the San Jose area that might have some mid fifty ford trucks. I got rear ended last weekend and need to lop off the rear crossmember from another 56 F-100. Thanks

Craig

There's one in Roseville, CA. That's on I-80, 15 miles E of Sacramento. Roseville Auto Dismantlers, I think.

Sadly, all the oldtime type yards along the Monterey Highway (aka Monterey Road) south of SJ are gone. We used to laugh at all the old '50s junk in them when I was a kid. Hey, my best friend in high school had a '51 IH that needed wheels and we found them! There was tons (literally) of stuff. Ho Hum
I think the only places to look now start out in the Central Valley and go from there. There used to be a couple of big yards out north of Orland up I5. I'm going up that way in a couple of weeks. I'll check them out and report back.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 09-Jun-02 AT 02:31 PM (EST)]Hi Craig!
Give me an E-mail. keahi73(No Email Addresses In Posts!) I may have a source for you. My buddy lives in San Jose, with MANY parts! I also belong to a Mid-50's Truck Club, Northern California Ford E-100 Elite: East Bay Chapter. We meet in San Leandro every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month. I'm sure someone in our club has the part you need or can help find it!

I remember all the great yards in San Jose, but sadly there aren't any left! I know...I've looked recently! Hope to see you at one of our meetings! Or perhaps you may be going to the North South Run in August in Santa MAria? HUGE show for Ford Trucks!

I'm actually a member of that club too, I'm in the Livermore chapter. Unfortunately now that I'm in college at Santa Cruz I haven't had time to attend meetings or go to the runs. I'll be sure to contact some of the members of my chapter soon about my problem

What a small world Craig! My husband and I met you on last years Pumkin Run, it was our 1st club function. We have the Black Primer 55. YOu have the awesome blue one right? Sorry to hear about the accident. I'm waiting to hear from my friend on a lead for your crossmember.

Hi Craig!
I think that the closest chapter to you is The East Bay Chapter. Ty and I drive across the bridge from San Carlos, with another club member. We meet every 1st and 3rd Thursday at 7:00pm at Harrys Hofbrau in San Leandro on East 14th St and Hesperian.
If nothing else, email me, and I can send you some info, or feel free to give us a call...email me and I'll send you the number.

Hmm, can't you just get a new one fairly reasonable from Sacramento Vintage Ford? They have just about everything for these old trucks.

I have heard that somewhere down Highway 101, sorta towards King City way, there are one or more old time wreckers down there with a lot of old truck stuff. Happy hunting!

I am looking for a very good right rear fender myself, that I can just drive over and pick up somewhere in Northern or Central California. If anybody has one or sees one for a reasonable price, please let me know!(why don't they make patch panels for the BACK ends of rear fenders? They always rust there....).
