Basic info for changing Diff. fluid - 95 F150

I have a 95 F150 4x4. I'm changing the fluids in my differentials tomorrow and I've got a couple of questions:

(1) What weight gear oil to use for front and rear differentials.
(2) How much fluid each will take.
(3) How does the rear diff. cover seal (gasket or RTV)?

Thanks guys.

I have always used silicon sealant on the covers with no problems. The place where you are buying the fluids should have the infomation for quantity and type of oil or it should be located in the glove box manual.

You can use 80w90 gear oil, it'll work fine. If you have limited slip, don't forget the additive or it will chatter if your clutches aren't worn out.

You'll need a pump of some kind to suck the fluid out of the front, there's no drain plug. Each should take a little less than 4 qts. For the rear, you can either use the cork gasket, RTV, or both.

Fantastic thanks for the info. If anyone else has any words of wisdom please speak up! This will be my first time changing out the fluids on this truck. Thanks a bunch.

Synthetic gear oil isn't necessary, and is quite a bit more. If it were me, I wouldn't spend the money on it.
