I'm going to be changing the rear fluid on a 97 F-250 at work with 4:10 open differential.
I allready bought the fluid, but it states it's for Limited Slip differentials. Can this be used on open diff too? Do these trucks use a gasket or RTV?
yep you'll be fine. what the additive is is a special fricion fighter for the clutch plates in a limited slip diff. but it works great in the open diff too. as far as the RTV i personally think it works better then the paper gasket. it's the only thing i use unless its a high heat or high pressure application. my whole eninge except for the intake and exhuast ports and the heads is rtv and no leaks.
I want to use Mobil 1 synthetic gear oil in my 8.8 differential in my 1994 F150 302 4x4. Do I need to add a bottle of friction modifier with the synthetic fluid??
