firestone tire replacement for recall

I was checking the tires on my 2001 today and I have the Pirelli Scorpions which are showing some weird wear, but since this is a used rig ,I don't know how many miles they have on them..I wonder if the dealer can run the vin and find out what the mileage was at replacement?? Then I thot that mebbee I had better check and see what shape the spare was in and Lo and behold,iIt says Firestone on it and is on an entirely different wheel.. Were they supposed to replace all the tires or just the ones on the ground???
I will more than likely be replacing them with Les schwabs this winter 'cuz I want all my tires with even wear and like I said they all are showing different wear patterns......

You can see if they'll replace the spare. I'm not sure if it was part of the "recall". I wouldn't worry too much about it really. Those original "D" Firestones were fine for the Excursion when aired up at least 10lbs. over the pressures on the door jamb. I never had a problem with them on my 2000 but replaced them with "E" rated at around 60K...prior to the "recall".

All spares for all Super Dutys/Excursions are mounted on that grey, steel rim.

Have you determined for a fact that it is the tires that are making for the weird wear patterns and not the alignment or balance (or lack thereof) of them?

They replaced all five of my tires. If that spare Firestone is Load Range "D", it should've been replaced with the others under the recall.

I had them all re-balanced,rotated and the alignment checked and the two really bad ones are still getting worse...They told me that they couldn't figger out the wear pattern on the two as it seemed to be a combination of things..One had an out of alignment, out of balance pattern and came off the back and the other was worn on the outside and cupped and was from the front..Realizing that they could have been rotated,I asked and the manager of the place said that it didn't look as if the wheels had been off the car in QUITE awhile...I can understand that as the car was down over 1/2 gal on antifreeze,5 qts of oil and I had to replace the rear brakes as soon as I got home....I bought it on Ebay and had to pick it up at the airport and there was really no place to check it out,so I just figgered that if I got it home ok and it wasn't what I wanted I could still fix it and sell it for more that I paid for it as they are going for PREMIUM prices around here....I have had it completely checked over and it's really in great shape and I love it....

Take the tire to a Firestone dealer and have them check it. There were only certain ones that were on the recall list.

Any HBR (Hard Black and Round) tire will work for a spare. I always rotate with the 4 tire pattern and leave the spare alone. Nothing is worse than rotating a tire to the spare position and then find out it had a tiny little nail puncture that slowly let the air out when I really need it a few months later.
