late model frame for 1951 ford truck

i am looking at putting my 1951 ford truck on a later model frame. is there a frame out there that will make a good fit? is this better than trying to use the subframes and h-frames that are being used? My 1951 truck frame is narrower than the mid fities frame that people are using the sub-frames on. please let me know if you have done this before or where i might get info on this topic!!

Some ideas I have seen on this board:

1983 Ranger
198? S-10
1977? Tbird
Modified F150 Frame
199? Dakota

I ran into a guy at the All Truck Nationals at Carlisle that had used a '79 F250 chassis & drive train and he chopped out 17" from the length and flipped the floor plate for the steering to be able to put his '49 F1 on it.
Like Copena said the Ranger frame may do'it. The difference in the width of the frame rails is about 1/2". You should measure the wheel centers in order to find out whether the wheel base is the same.

I've got a 79 F150 shortbed under my 50 and it fit close. We had to customize the front frame horns to get the notches right for the front end, and I've got a slightly larger gap between the cab and bed, but only like a half inch. Its still a little work. Hind sight being 20/20 I'd probably keep a stock frame and get an IFS put in custom and do custom engine mounts. Then do some frame stiffening. I'm not sure it would be easier though.
