need help.

Have a 99, 250 super cab, 4x4, 7.3 engine, 96,000 mls.

last two past week been smelling lost of diesel fumes, coming out of the truck..two days ago, went under and found two or three little pools of diesel on the street, one of the dropping is runing down by the starter to the ground.
Today while returning from first season in duck hunting, parked at home open the hood and found right behind the upper diesel filter, a large amount of diesel right there on top of the engine between the two valve cover...close to half coffe cup, and to my knowledge that area is suppose to be dry.
The truck is not missing, and running strong, but...I have notice (now) that lately I been using lots of diesel...Can anybody have had any experience with this problem in theirs 250's. Thanks Gene.

Yeah, you got ULSD in there now and I'll bet you a nickle your O rings crapped out on the water separator lever that sits right behind the fuel filter on top. Its a yellow piece of plastic, and you're just in the middle of a long line of people that have seen this recently. I don't know why it does that, but there seems to be a pretty strong correlation to this glut of fuel leaks and the introduction of the ULSD. Hopefully new rings fixes it.
Someone here about 2 weeks ago was kind enough to post a step by step of how to replace those rings. Cost you about a buck and an hour of time. Ill see if I can find the link
