I am going to need to some injector work(o rings going south) and I am considering doing the DIY injector rebuild. Has any one had any bad experience with them if so what? Since I dont have a flow bench, is it possiable to still get a good smooth idle? What should a 4 possition chip with wildman programs cost? Thanks for the info.
KNTP, Like plowhand said, I just did a set of 160cc DIY-Injectors. I HIGHLY recommend it. Especially if you aren't wanting to go to a bigger injector. Jim is extremely helpful. You could get a parts kit for like $180 and that has everything you need to rebuild stock injectors. The machined intensifier pistons is what makes the majic. But if your injectors don't have worn out parts in them i.e. it runs fine but the orings are letting oil by, you could rebuild all 8 for under $200. The parts kit has new nozzle springs, internal and external o-rings, and armiture screws. I can't remember what else is in the kit off the top of my head. Anyway, the way I tell people is this.....If you can take a carburator apart, clean it's parts and put it back together. You can do this no sweat. And I don't mean, take it apart, tell me what each part does, and how it functions. I mean just take it apart and put it back together clean. It REALLY is that easy. Email Jim and I promise you won't be disappointed. And the hardest part about doing the injectors is getting them in and out of the truck, which ain't that bad, just time consuming. I bought a set of injectors out of a junk yard truck and built them. That way when I was ready I could just put them in. When I was ready, it took me 10 1/2 hours to pull the injectors, change glow plugs, purge the cylinders, and reinstall the injectors and go for a test drive. And remember to hook the map sensor back up or you will be really disappointed in the performance of your newly rebuilt injectors. Trust me on that one. And I do all my work in the middle of the night. Not to mention I had to stop to go the parts store for glow plugs. Anyway, I hope that helps. Good luck man.
Thanks for the info. I think I am going to try it. What kind of chip do You run Rubberduck? I have seen TS 6 position chips on ebay for $255. Do you think that is too cheap? Seems too cheap like something is wrong.
KNTP, I run a DP-Tuner 2 pos chip. I can only run 2 programs with the custom switch Jody built for me. I have the 40, and 120 settings. But I actually need to send it back to him for a reburn since I have made alot of upgrades. As far as the chip on ebay.......I ain't gonna BS you man. I would avoid it. If you ever have problems with it, nobody will help you with it. Meaning even if it's a DP chip, if you didn't get it from him, or a certified dealer you now own a $255 piece of crap. I realize TS deals with both Tony Wildman and Jody Tipton. But I have only heard bad things about buying chips from a middle man i.e. ebay. I say save yourself the headache and go directly to one or the other for your chip. That's just my opinion man. Not to mention, those chips they sell on ebay are not taylored to your truck. If you call Jody, you will get a chip that is custom made for your truck. And believe me, it will save you money and the "wish I woulda's" later. Hope that helps man, good luck.
