OK ELECTRICAL IS MY WORST NIGHTMARE....I ADMIT IT!!!
I'm doing a search.. but if anyone can help... I have a flat 4 pin connector and a 66 F100 trying to connect the harness to the signal leads at the rear of the truck where the rubber M/F connectors are. Wrong probably ? but thats why I'm here.. trailer is yellow/green left, and brown/green right. Ive managed to get lights, signals the wrong direction but nothing worth dragging down the road ....arrghhhh what am I doing wrong ? please help LOL''' TIA
Don't know if this is going to help but, I use this wiring configuration as follows.
Brown = Taillights
Yellow = Driverside / Turn signals/ brake
green= Passenger side/ Turn signals / brake
The brown wire has a jump from driverside (yellow) to green wire
Ok maybe the last part is why I get no lights when the headlights are on and brakes are applied./. I got the signal part worked out and it would light the brakes dimmly with the running lights off. But when the running lights are on only the signals function. If you touch the brake it all goes zilch...
I'm going to say is old famous (Check grounds). On your pig tail connection on your trailer light (4 prong), you should of also have a ground wire, did you ground this to your frame?
I will start again in the morning and see where it goes. Was hoping to take the old hepher out and see if she will sink or not. The suspense is killing me. After 2.5 years of resto work something has to give.... http://www.classicglasspars.com/inde...&g2_itemId=364
Bob, The turn signals-brake uses the same wire and bulb filiment. The tail light uses the different wire and for both sides. The white wire is for ground, and in most cases doesn't need to be used, because the ground is made through the hitch. The trailer does have to be on the hitch or a ground wire to make the circuit complete and the bulbs lite.
Well there you go, I think. Trailer was not on the hitch but I did have turn and brake lights working. Although dim in my opinion. I'm sure I get it wrapped up this morning.
