Steering Wheel Question

Does any one know if this steering wheel will fit a 66 Ford F100?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...4736&rd=1&rd=1

It looks right, but would like some input from the experts!

It should, but $50.00 is gonna be pricey. IMHO

Maybe, but it beats 150.00 new, and it matches the colors I've picked for the truck, red and white.

Not sure, but does not appear to have the same type turn signal cancellation cam on the backside of the hub. Checked couple Ford part supplier catalogs and they have separate listing for 59 wheel than for 61 and above. Would confirm before bidding. If you have the original wheel, have you considered self reconditioning. Had to recondition wheel on my 65 which had some serious cracks, found it was not that involved and pleased with results.

Good idea Dave, Filler and paint may be the better answer. I bet it would be cheeper than either of the other options too.

There is a kit available, but basically it consist of the 'A'-'B' type epoxy filler found in local hardware store. Clean wheel, use small triangle shaped file to clean out the crack so the compound will have sufficient surface to adhere to. Mix small quantity at a time, keep mixture moist, not too wet, it's easier to work with and will not set up as quick. Do not apply too heavily in the area where there is a design in the steering wheel, once it sets up difficult to sand these area's to achieve original wheel design, and pattern, so suggest clean up excess compound before it sets up. If there is serious cracks along the horn ring may give it a try, I had small piece missing and was able to correct using the compound. After compound has set up, sand, prime, and then paint to color of choice. I used aerosol can of the 'fusion' paint, suppose to adhere to plastic better. May try Eastwood wed site, they sell the kit so they may have a tech article on how to recondition the wheel.

In event decide to go this route, came across the info sheet Eastwood offers. The wheel is fairly common and not hard to come by in salvage yard. Problem is will probably find in simular condition, they tend to get hair line cracks where supports meet the hub, or outer wheel. If yours is too serious, may salvage wheel in good condition, or in need of less repair. If not in hurry, may want to set up ebay email notifications where they will email when steering wheel that meets your description is placed on auction.

In addition to the instructions that daveengelson posted, here is a short tech article that has a few pics of a VW steering wheel we restored using our steering wheel restoration kit. The process is pretty straightforward.
