defroster issue
89 xlt, 5.0.. didnt use the a/c all year, today was the first "cool" day, and when i turned on the defroster, i heard a little "squeal" noise and then the entire cab filled with "smoke", not "burning smoke", more like fog.. shut off and on, same result, let it run for a couple minutes and the fog never stopped. Plus it never blew hot, just cool..

The squeal was probably your blower motor, from sitting all year and not running. The "smoke/fog" was probably from a leak in your heater core. It blowing cool could be from the leak in the heater core and/or a stopped up heater core or the fresh air door not closing off. I would pull the air plenum cover (under dash) and look at and/or replace the heater core and check the operation of all of the air diverter doors.

That is a possibility. It also sounds like you valve on your heater water line is not opening. I would unplug the compresser and see if you still have the fog. Mine makes the fog everytime I turn the air on when its raining. But not when the heat is on.
