Plenty of threads on oil in this forum – especially if you want to read for hours and hours. I like Schaeffer Supreme 7000 synthetic - CI4+ ; 15W-40 (I live in South Texas w/ practically no winters). It also seems that for the transmission fluid, a lot of folks just use what is recommended in the manual.
As far as transmission fluid goes there is only ONE you CAN use. Mercon SP!!!! Anything else will toast your tranny in short order. Motorcraft is the only brand it's available in. Motor oil......depends on where you are temperature wise, but for the most part any API certified CI4+ is good as long as you follow the recommended oil change interval in your manual. Most recommend 5K miles maximum as the 6.0 injectors like clean oil. There has been much talk about the engine oil filter and how it fits in the housing. There is only one that will fit without causing potential damage to your engine and that's the Racor manufactured filter (Ford, Fram, OilGuard). The willfits can allow the oil bypass valve in the filter housing to open causing a loss of oil pressure. The correct fuel filter has the white aquabloc covering on the Primary filter and an incorrect secondary fuel filter may cause the plastic standpipe to be broken. You can get your filters for a very good price from one of our FTE sponsors if you can't find them locally.
