351W conversion kit

I have a 55 Ford pickup and I am installing a 351W/C6 in it. The engine came out of a 79 Ford van. I got a conversion kit from Bob's F-100 and the front crossmember hits the oil pan. I think the oil pans are different on vans than on cars and trucks. Does anyone know? thanks for any help.

Yes, they sure are. The vans and most trucks used a rear sump oil pan and all cars until the 80's used a front sump pan. In the 80's they switched to a dual sump that has two drain plugs. So I guess what I'm saying is that you have three different oil pan choices. Since you've got the rear sump pan and you've got a clearance problem, I would guess that what you need is probably a front sump pan. Anything from a car up to '79 should work fine. Make sure that you get the pickup tube to match the pan. The local parts house should be able to get you a brand new one.

I've been looking for a rear sump pan. I can't use the front sump that I have with my volare clip. Would you be interested in a swap? Let me know at mikew@campbellsurvey.com

Thanks
Mike
