Quite a few people on here seem to like the Sylvania Silverstars.
I've never tried them but am thinking about it.
Anyone here tried higher wattage bulbs in their truck?
I know that in my wife's Exploder the higher wattage bulbs caused headlight switch problems.

I've used the higher watt bulbs in my Mustang with no ill effects. I use the SilverStars in my 01 F150 in the headlights and driving lights. They are a brighter, clearer light. Not as yellow as standard bulbs.

thanks guys as well my wives explorer they are very bright. I know it has to do with the lens and background and things but that lights up like a stadium. Well I asked the ford dealer and they said it should not hurt the truck but with higher wattages as such as 100/80 the police may have problems because of the brighter lights for oncoming traffic. As long as i can see tho lol.

I have used the Silverstar and Silverstar Ultra. Both work fine. They put out around 4000 kelvin which is very white with little yellow. I have switched to a brand called Heliolite. It puts out 80/100 watt and are rated at 4300 kelvin. They are very white. No yellow and not much blue even though the bulbs are tinted blue. The higher the kelvin the more blue and purple the light shows but you also loose brightness. The brightness drops 10% for every 1000 kelvin increase. The brightest kelvin for halogen bulbs is 4000 - 5000. I hope this helped.
