I need to replace the front brakes on my 86 F-150.
I'm no mechanic but you guys have walked me through a couple of other things in the past. After listening to Dumdum9599's problems I'm wondering if I'm better off just getting them done professionally.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx.
Replacing brake pads are actually pretty easy. What he's talking about is something I've never had to replace. Normally all you do is compress the piston back into the housing - with the C clamp. If you get stuck on anything, just ask.
You will need a large C clamp. Otherwise simple tools are all that's required.
make sure you leave the brake line attached and compress with c clamps because bleeding brakes is a bitch... beyond that its real easy you can look at it and see how it comes apart and use the old brake pad to compress the piston you dont wanna damage your new pads
