So i'm looking at a small camper, it comes with surge brakes.....i'm a bit confused as there is no surge part in the coupler like i'm used to with other surge brakes.
Are their electric surge brakes??? And can I switch them over to electric brakes just controlled with my prodigy???

I am unclear how the brakes are activated without something in the coupler. I know of no electric surge brakes. Can you tell me what trailer you are considering?
If it's new, ask the dealer how the "surge" brakes work with the coupler you describe. If it's used, maybe the OP damaged the coupler and replaced it with a standard coupler to save $$$.
Start at the brakes. Look for the hydraulic line. Trace the hydraulic line to either a cylinder that's compressable, or, alternatively, cut & terminated lines.

You're right. Hydraulic brakes are obvious. It is, however, hard for me to believe anyone would remove a braking system and reminents should be obvious.
Well thats the odd part.....they're electric brakes...there is only wires running into the hub......which is why i'm trying to figure out if theres some new kinda electric surge brakes.......
normal round 7 pin that i'd expect with electric brakes......and yep...there is a break away system installed......
Which is what confuses me so much.....they are 100 percent electric brakes.......but are still listed as surge......i was hoping there was an rv guy on here who had some experience with these trailers...
There have been talks lately about some states outlawing trailer brakes that can't be controlled from the tow vehicle. KZ obviously decided to go electric, no matter what their brochures/salesmen say..........
