Trouble coming??

I went out this morning and started up the truck. I let it idle for a few minutes before taking off. I noticed right off that my speedometer was not working and my overdrive switch was blinking, my tach was not working either, I was not getting heat either. The truck itself was running and shifting just like it always has.....running good. About three miles down the road it all straightened out and all was back with the guages....they did not come back working together at once though.....one would fix then after another and so on. I had at the start temp guage along with oil pressure too. Radio was fine, lights worked. Is this something that might be leading to something big? It did get cool last night....into the 40's......that is not really that bad though............. I would appreciate any thoughts that you might have on this. Thanks for any and all responses in advance.

I would look into the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor). It's located on the top of the rear end housing. Only thing with a wire going to it in the rear end. I think they're pretty cheap, and not hard to change. It's at least worth it to give it a shot.
