Its just too bad, i have to sell my first ever vehicle, my 83 6.9. I wish I could keep it, and maybe some day have the time and money to work on it but it doesnt look possible right now.I need a reliable truck to take to college, and my 83 just isnt. It really is sad but what can you do. I think im going to get a 2000 Dodge cummins, love the fords but i like the look of the ram and the power. I know im going to get a lot of crud for that here on FTE but i dont care, dodge is just as gooda truck as the ford. the sale isnt final yet so im not saying goodbye to this section just yet!
I like the Dodge parking brake, and their six speed is nice.
Steering I think is the pits.
Power is nothing to brag about in stock form.
Fuel mileage is about the same as mine when I drive one.
And they rattle.
The only Dodge I have driven that I liked the way it drove and rode was a 1/2 ton 2 wheel drive.
dodge sucks! the cummins motor i think is a dog, as dave says, "nothing to brag about"i think the p-stroke is way better, but the dodge gets better mpg. if you want mpg....buy a vw diesel, if you want power then get a p-stroke.i think the big cummins suck as well, they are like the dinosaurs....they just havent become extinct, yet. i have a n-14 in the shop right now with 218,000 on it with a cracked injector cup that is not replaceable. 2k to fix. i didnt want that cummins motor but the truck was a steal.....it is never cheaper to compromise bassproguy07, get the ford and pay the money you'll be happier in the long run. if you have time, check the resale price of the ford stroker vs. the dodge stroke-off, you'll see the price of admission is worth the payoff to go ford
I am selling off my 86 Dually in favor of a 88 F250 5sp 4x4 7.3. Im mainly doing it because of the f250 having OD and getting better MPG than my C6 4:10 geared dually.
really like the 6.9 I just bought.....really like the 03 HO Dodge I bought in 03 and still have....I tell people I bought a '03 Cummins HO......and got a Dodge for free!
