I took my truck in for the 20000mi service yesterday. I picked it up today and drove it to my shop with one stop in between, then I drove home, on the way I stopped at the convenience store and when I came out it wouldn't start. It turns over fine, has fuel but will not fire. Any ideas? The stretcher is on its way to take it back to the dealer, but I was wondering(hoping) if it could be something simple.
Thanks. I read a couple other threads that had similar symptoms. It is now at the dealer. It still wouldn't start after several hours, which I read that with some others they would start after sitting. We'll see what they say tomorrow and Ill let you guys know.
About two weeks ago my truck did the same thing to my wife and kids - in the middle of nowhere - the HPOP was the problem - there was a leak in the system that wasn't allowing the injectors to fire. After about two weeks they finally got the HPOP orings in correctly and now she runs like a champ. By the way the knucklehead tech at the dealer in the middle of nowhere forgot to attach the auto tranny filler tube back to the tranny - thankfully nothing got in but plenty of fluid came out when I drove the 60 miles back home. Oh yeah and he didn't completely attach the exhaust feed inlet to the back of the turbo - stripped the bolt - had my local dealer fix the problems and give a thorough inspection based on the work that was done - everything is just fine. Fortunately all was under warranty so I didn't have to pay for anything - now I'm just trying to get the other dealer to give me a little something for my troubles.
FYI - leading up to the failure of the HPOP I had the following issues - that funny cricket, metalic sound coming from the front of the engine and intermittent hard starting. Had my local dealer look at both issues and everything checked out fine - that was about 30 days prior to truck dieing on us.
I picked up my truck last night and so far so good. They replaced #2 injector. It starts just fine. The normal longer crank when cold but fires right up when warm. I hope all is well because we are leaving for Sand Mountain tomorrow. I did some searching on here and found alot of posts, but one in particular sticks out where a guy had 1,3,5 and 4 injectors replaced and VLoney told him to get ready for 7,2,6 and 8 to go! Hopefully mine will hold until we are not on a trip.
BTW thanks to all for their knowledge and input. I know I only have 30 something posts but I do read (lurk) on here alot, and it always bugs me when someone comes on here and posts a problem but you never hear what the solution was.
Also is it o.k. for one to go off topic in a thread they start?
