49-50 trucks

I have 3 questions ? I'm working on a 50 Ford F-5 Flat bed. What was the original color of the flat head V-8. Also its got the original flat bed I want to make the original wood stake sides for it. Does anyone know who might sell the metal hardware for the wood stake sides. Was the original wood oak,or just treated wood? Thanks !!!

northern equipment sells the steel fasteners for the side rails and the end gates.
I don't think they had wolmanized wood in 49/50.

i believe the engine was red when it was built. i've heard alot of other colors though.how long is the flatbed? i have a 51 F5 with a 12' bed.

I have a 51 F5 with a 239 flathead. The engine is (was) red. Now it is rusty. See picture in gallery.

Check out www.northernclassictrucks.com for parts and whole beds for your truck. I've been to this place in Sterling Heights Michigan and this guys stuff is first rate.
