Just inherited a 39 ford truck that was my grandfathers. He bought it new and it has been in his garage for 20 years. got an offer for $5,000, but i was thinking it might be worth more. Any advice would be appreciated
A lot depends on the shape it's in. Is there a lot of rust, is it just surface rust or holes, are all the parts there. Running or not doesn't make that big of a diff since the motor would have to be rebuilt or freshened anyway. Also, where you're located and how much time you're willing to wait to get the price you want is a huge part what you sell it for.
My opinion is that if it's in decent shape and little to no surface rust, it's probably worth more. (Unless your in Calif. - noticed when we were looking for a 40-41 that there seems to be more old classics available out west.)
Do some online research for "Classic Ford Trucks" or "Project Trucks" and see what other people are asking. Hemmings is just one of many good sites.
