Hi all, this may not be the location to ask but I'll give it a try. I've got a 2000 F250 that I had one of the batteries replaced recently(wanted both replaced but the shop said only one was bad) , anyway now if the truck sits for about 3 days, both batteries will be dead. Is there anything obvious that I'm missing here that is causing this. I was thinking maybe a glowplug controller or relay sticking and killing both batteries. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Both batteries should always be replaced at the same time. That could be the issue.
Another is a draw when the engine is shut off. However I'd have the other battery swapped out first, since I'm assuming that this problem has only come up since the single battery change.
I had a ford tempo that would draw down the battery after a couple days. Turned out it was the alternator! Long after the engine was cool, the alternator housing was still barely warm - warmer then the valve cover for instance. I replaced the alternator and the problem stopped immediately.
Maybe the alternator killed your first battery because it is on its way out (or the battery going bad has damaged your alternator).
Also, I noticed both of my batteries showed yellow in the little circular window a couple months back (Performed fine, just showed yellow). They were both low on water. I added distilled water to both of them (brought up to equal levels in each hole). After about 1 - 2 weeks of typical daily running, they were both back to green!!
