6volt to 12volt conversion

I have a 55 and im not exactly sure on how to get juice to my ignition switch when i put in the 1 wire alternator because the juice did come from the generator regulator. any help about this entire topic would be good thanks.

I assume that your wiring is stock and that your vehicle is already negative ground. The simple answer to your question is to disconnect the wiring from the regulator and connect the output of your alternator to the wire that was on the "B" terminal of the regulator (should be a heavy yellow wire). The other wires on the reg will be removed or isolated, as they went to the generator. My recent experience with my 54 suggests that your stock wiring may be heavily deteriorated. I removed and replaced every wire in the truck. Of course, switching to twelve volt presents lots of challenges dependant upon what you are using for guages, etc. You should procure a diagram before you start your changes.

Todd.
