'99 Merc Mountaineer/5.0 Litre/AWD...Starts then dies on cold engine. If you hold gas pedal @750 to 1000 R.P.M. and engines warms, and you take foot off accelerator, idle is low(approximate 400 R.P.M.). Rev the warm engine to 1500 R.P.M.and then take foot off pedal, engine stalls. Help...!!!
***Note: Full tank of gas/put 36 miles on after fill up and no problem.Tried 2 bottles of dry gas and no help.
Clean or replace the IAC motor, if that does not solve it, the next logical part is the CTS, then, if that does not solve it, you probably have a vacuum leak.

I replaced the IAC Valve(Wells TV229) and engine starts and idles per spec. I also took apart the bad IAC Valve. It checked out electrically O.K. There was
alot of carbon build up on the valve stem(s),seat,spring,small vent hole on dia-
phragm base,et al...
Removed new IAC Valve,installed cleaned old one and truck ran excellent. Of course I replaced the new IAC on engine. Will keep old,cleaned IAC Valve for
use on other Fords. Thanks for the response...
