I did the driving lights too, but only 55 watts (Hella 500's). The combo is excellent. The good thing is that the whole beam is improved, including low beam (which can help lots, especially if it is wet out)
How is the beam on those lights? Is it an actual "driving" beam (kinda like: =O= ) or more of a spotlight (like: O )? I tried some spotlights that came with my friends bronco, I wasn't really happy with the beam on it, too laser like.
tdister. If you want to try something, measure the voltage a the back of the bulb with the stock harness vs the new harness. The voltage difference can tell you the percent wattage you gained. ((Vnew-Vold)/Vold)*100= % watts gained
I think your waisting your money on a new harness. The stock one is fine for any of the bulbs you can get. Xtravision, Siverstar, Nighthawk or stock, they all use the same wattage.
A member at TDS named CPSS tested the stock harness vs. upgraded harness, as well as stock bulbs vs Silverstars, a couple years back using a meter that measured the light output intensity in Lux.
Here's his post:

So I think you all can see, the higher output of the Silverstar replacement lamps (or any other lamp upgrade for that matter) will really not be noticed untill you improve the wiring. There is a voltage drop on the stock wiring of almost 2 volts at the lamp socket.
I didn't do any light meter testing on mine, but I did notice a very significant increase in the light output w/ the new harness, and then another big jump w/ Xtravisions over the stock bulbs.

Ryan, thanks for posting that. It's nice to see numbers to back up our claims. I made up a harness myself and switched to the Silverstars about a year ago and I love them.
ryaneverk2, thanks for that post. Not to turn this into another Silverstar debate but...The only thing I'm wondering about is how accurate the test was. I've seen a few other tests that showed them putting out almost the same, and 1 showing lower output than stock lights. I think some of it has to do with the way the filament repositioning changes the beam spread and location slightly. Taking this into account (or not) could change the output figures quite a bit. Just wondering if he measured the same spot for each bulb, or the brightest spot for each bulb.
It's still good info as far as the harness goes, I would have little doubts as to the accuracy when using the same bulb.
/sorry if that didn't make sense, I'm on 2 hours sleep .
Is there any real difference between the APC and the one from GOS for the 9007 lamps?
I had looked into buying one of these some time ago, and reading this thread last week reminded me that this was something I had wanted to do. I looked at the price on the GOS for my 04 Super Duty and almost ordered it, but decided it was the weekend and I would just wait until after Christmas. I check today and it has gone up in price about 20%. Doh! Typical luck.
i got a set of h13's for my super duty from here http://www.automotivelightingusa.com
and saw worse then stock lighting on the sd but the very same bulbs installed in my 07 mustang seem like night and day. till i was reading the stangs owners manual about changeing the lght bulbs and warrenty issues with higher then stock out put bulbs burning up alternators and wireing. then they came right back out.
I've a question: What's the difference between the 9007 and 9008 Bulbs and how does one tell which one is which? I have a stock early 99 F250SD PSD. I too have the issues of dim lights which need an upgrade. Thanks for any input in advance.
They look pretty similar. Unless your truck came with sealed beams (glass headlights) then it uses the 9007. 9008 bulbs started to be used much later in the SD trucks (2005 I'm pretty sure).
