Okay, I could do this myself and I am aware of the kit on Powerstrokeshop.com.
Time is the problem, so I got a quote at the National Tire & Battery when I got my tires rotated today. They would use moog but they will not let me supply the parts due to warranty issues. Bottom line, almost twice as much for the parts and $85 / hr for 5.8 hrs. Almost $1100.
i say take a saturday and do it. it isnt too hard as long as you have a balljoint puller/installer, press, and those helpful instructions posted on the powerstrokeshop.com website. if you have all that and feel confident i say go for it and save the money for more mods. i have done it on my truck and my buddys truck and it only takes about four hours.
Okay so lets consider it. I recently replaced my passenger hub, so I can tell you that it will take 1 hour to get the driver's side off (that was without consideration to the hub which was trash).
So I would have to get the 1 1/8" inch and ? size wrenches.
I don't have a ball joint pull.
I don't have a press.
Anyone have good leads on these items? Like a puller that is big enough?
I got the puller and press from Autozone even though I got my parts from NAPA. Get the large three jaw puller for pulling the hubs. No charge for using the tools, just a deposit that you get back when you return the tools. The ball joint tool is a press for both installing and removing.

I was quoted $815. I'm still looking for a place for less. $375 sounds like a great deal. Question, about how many miles before they were out. I have about 100K and notice a fair amount of slop.
Mine were out when I bought my truck (61,000 miles) but I think it was because the truck lived on a cattle ranch and was off pavement far more than it was on, hence the ball joint damage. I had everything replaced with the Moogs and it drives like a dream now.
i have my truck up tonight, im getting my brake rotors turned and new pads from napa, and put on tomarow mornning. i wobled up and down on the auto hub and i could notice the upper and lower ball joints were bad, on both sides of the truck. so i gues thats what was causing my clunking noises when i came to a stop. though i dont see any weird tire wear? well i dont have time this week to do the ball joints so ill try and do it the following week on a saturday. if i do the ball joints my self, what kind of time am i looking at spending to do all four?
thanks..

If it is a 4x4 figure about 4 - 6 hours hours depending on how much time it takes to disassemble. Pulling the hubs can be troublesome depending on how long it has been since they have been apart. Be sure to use antiseize when you reassemble so that it is easier if you have to tear it down again.
