gas tank problem fix
i am posting this for a little info. i have a 1980 ford f-100 stepside swb.the gas tank recently rusted out on me so time to replace.well i called a gas tank company and they wanted 200 dollars for a plastic replacement . ouch! well i figured i would go get one from a wrecking place .no one had one that old and if they did it had holes in it from where they drained it.the swb truck has a different tank from all other style truck.the last place i looked had a tank for a 1990 swb truck and it was the exact same except for the sending unit hole. the newer one had a big hole for a fuel pump injection. i got the tank alone for 30 bucks and all i asked for was the ring and seal for the big sending unit.i tool it home and made a timplete of the big hole and cut it out of my old tank where the smaller sending unit was.put it in the new tank and put the seal and ring on it.problem fixed for only 30 dollars
