question , i have a 1980 302 starts up fine ....but if you shut it off ,then it doesnt have any spark..... i changed the module already , what else could be wrong ? if you let it sit and cool completly it will restart
This might sound crazy but after going through and changing my ignition system, and I mean all of it, I found that the starter solenoid was bad and causing the same problem that you are having. Get a good one and make sure your cables are all clean on both ends and give a look at the fuzeable links while you are at it. I mean clean the contacts that bolt to the solenoid.
thanks for all the tips ..... i forgot to mention i have changed the starter .... new cables all over ..new selonoid , brand new battery its a project truck that i am rebuilding ....forgot about the coil ...and the pickup inside distributor ....will try those as time and funds permit
I had changed my solenoid with two or three, even one new one, still no fire. Went to Napa and got a heavy duty one and fired right up. Just because it's new doesn't mean it's good. If your getting lower than normal voltage at the coil, spark to all cylinders and seems like it should be good fire, chances are it's the problem. I spent three weeks fooling around before I figured it out. Do the voltage/ohm checks for your control module and voltage regulator and you'll be able to tell.
