Power windows/locks

What do you guys think it'd cost to swap power windows and locks into a '94 XLT regular cab? Anyone done it before? Where can I get the parts for it?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Oh it can be done.. but it's not really cost effective, unless you can find a donor used vehicle.

You'd have to change out door panels, switches, window regulators, lock actuators.. linkages... modules... not to mention running the wiring through the door and into the truck... believe me... a BIG BIG PITA.

I'd say parts alone.. new.. would run you... at least $800-1000.

Wow...thanks for that, definetly not willing to put anywhere near that sort of money just for a little convenience. I'll stick with manually working them!

Thanks!

I used to get that alot at the ford dealer I used to work at... people thought you could just plug in a module or something and make it all magically work... Now I know that you're smarter than that, but the simple truth is there is a lot more work involved than most people think.

A little off topic, but I once had an elderly woman pull in with a toyota (into a ford dealer, go figure) with two small children in the back at 4:45pm, wanting me to fix her DVD player... when I told her that it could be very time consuming, and that she may be better off finding a toyota dealership as they have more expertise on these systems, and the chance that it may be covered under some kind of warranty she started crying and said.. get this... "But you don't understand how horrible it is to travel with children when the DVD player is broken!"

I would've thought, of all people, she would have remembered the days of station wagons, no air conditioning, and "are we there yet?!?!? I have to goooooooooo!!!"
And don't forget "prairie-*******"

haha I just smiled and said "have a nice day"

I got my door stuff like you are looking for out of a 97 for my 94. Right around $400 for the whole thing, plus I got to cut the wire bundle ends off that everything plugs into. I could have gottent he whole harness but wasnt able to pull the dash etc. Anyhow it was a rollover so they just pulled the whole door assy's and all I had to do was pick them up, got seats (pwr-Driver) from an 01 explorer for around $100 with the overhead compass temp for $20, a 2piece drivers sun visor for another 10. Took over a year to find the doors but if you are patient they can be had. Leather seats cost lots more to get like the baurer ones etc, about $2-300 for them! The door locks can be had aftermarket for around $100 installed less off ebay DIY. Mirrors from aftermarket can be had for around $65 ea, you can get the switch and install them if you really wanted, just have to find a place to put it. I put in a separate fuse block to wire to under the hood, really wont be hard just time consuming. Look at ebay to get the mirrors if ya want I have seen em for less than $50 ea.
