I have a 85 F-150 LWB thats totally redone but the heater core assembly caught fire and destroyed all the wiring and interior...The truck was built by me as a sleeper setup and runs 11.45 in the quarter mile .The motor has all the upgraded FI components and the computer got washed by the firemen and I believe its gone..I never tried to start it because the majority of the wires are melted together...but the alarm still works..lol ...I bought an 88 Ford SWB with the same setup so I could swap it out when deemed nessasary. The 88 needs alot of work as in new suspension system, paint and body which my 85 already has but I dont know if all the parts will swap over or not...what would u do ? I really would rather sell the 88 and just put a dual quad setup on the 85 and do away with all the electronics and run it simple or just do a total swap with the trucks eng/trans/rear...I still want a street legal setup because having a truck is very usefull around the house.
It'll be hard to pass emissions with the thing carbed. You'll need a lot of stuff to make the swap, if the truck is worth saving. Intake, exhaust, computer, fuel pump, and that's only if removing those things dosen't screw the rest of the wiring to where you can't drive the truck. I'd try swapping over to the 88.
I hear that...I looked at it yesterday and the whole front end is starting to rust..so it looks like I need to blow my 88 ford motor...I really cant understand how it didnt blow already being my G/F dogged it for 2 years...
