Diesel Kleen Question

I am about to use this stuff for the first time, but am rather confused as to add how much to my tank when I go fill it up.

06' F250 PSD...don't know if it matters much....

what should I add?

I always followed the directions on the gray bottle for max benefit...64 oz./ gal of fuel.

It will not hurt your truck if there is more...or less... than that amount.

On that same note, which is better the gray or the white bottle? Im guessing it just depends on the weather conditions in which you live in. From reading it it seemd to me that the white bottle is more for cold weather usage.

The white bottle has anti-gel properties whereas the gray bottle does not. Some cetane boost is sacrificed but, both are good products.

Wink My thoughts . . .

In South Tx all we use is the gray as the white is to prevent gelling of the fuel. I have a 29 gal tank and put 1/2 a bottle of the gray in at fill up. I buy the mid size bottle at O'Riellys for $5.99.

If you follow the directions, the higher dose is .64 ounces per gallon of fuel. 61/2 ounces per 10 gallons. This gives the max cetane boost. Don't think anymore will accomplish anything but spending more money.

I use a 1/4 bottle per fill and have changed over to the white last month. If you are in SOCAL all you need is gray bottle. So far, so good.

The quart sized bottles have a narrow strip on the side to let you see how much you're putting in. It really helps when you find yourself fueling up at awkward tank intervals.

Lonewolftx--where are you located? I was at my local San Antonio Walmart and thought exactly what you wrote; I grabbed the gray bottle.

Since I'm new to diesels, and because it seems to go with this thread, at what point (temp-wise) does adding anti-gelling become an issue?

I'm in Dallas and I never went with the white bottle....worst we've had the last couple of years is mid to high teens.

I use about 10 to 12 oz's in my 38 gal tank. I've noticed that if im not printing my shoes in the raidater i get about 2 to 3 more gal per mile that way... w/o i get 12 to 13 mpg, w/ i get about 15 +/- and thats using the gray bottle... I am in washington state and now wonder if maybe i should be switching to the white bottle for the winter?? also - NEW USER WARNING - dont let DK spill on clothing or in cab.... it will take for ever to get the smell out.... some of us have leard this the hard way. there are a few other threads that talk about DK and after market storage container that work well and will prevent this from happening.. good luck with what ever you choose to do.....

I buy the 96 oz. larger gray bottle. As a rule of thumb for the "gray bottle", I add 1 ounce of "Diesel Kleen" for every 3 gallons to get the 3+ cetane boost. I add this to every tank and I have had no injector problems and get some extra peace of mind. From what I have understand, when it is consistently below freezing/32 degrees, start using the white bottle. Just my 2 cents worth!

I don't think gelling's gonna be a problem 'till you're hovering around the 0 mark. Haven't ad any issues in Colorado.

My diesel has 12000. miles on it. I have never used a fuel additive. I am considering doing so. I am mostly interested in keeping the injectors clean and keeping water out of the fuel. The discussion here is all about the brand "Diesel Kleen". Is this the most commonly used brand. Does Ford recommend any brand. Is there any independent testing source that recommends brands of fuel additives.
