Hey guys, I'm new here. Just checking in to see if it is a common problem. When I am steering in low speed applications such as a parking lot. I get a high pitched squeek. If anyone could tell me I'd be very happppy. Since I'm going under the old girl today to check it out.
I went under it and used a greasegun with a needle tip and pierced the boot and pumped all the joints full. It's a bummer that there is only 2 grease nipples under there.
I have the same problem. Started about 2000miles after I had the lower ball joints replaced with new ones that are greaseable. Havent tracked down the problem but my ford dealer didnt seem to think it was a problem because I just had the 90k maintainence package done.
a good way ti isolte this is by lying under neath the vehicle and have some one bounce the vehicle up and down. it is very common for the control arm bushings (upper and lower)to skeak. if it is that then you wil be giving them a weekly shot of wd40. or some other type of lube. look at any other rubber mounted bushings while your under there. shocks and skweak too.
I had the same problem, it drove me crazy, I greased everything, believe it or not! I found the problem changing out my universal joints, it seems the rear joints was as dry as the desert the squeaking radiated to the front end giving a false audible location, regardless the noise went away upon universal change, but know I have a new problem, I have a vibration coming from the drive shaft due to not matching up correctly the yoke position, I marked them prior, but cleaned away due too soaking with penetrating oil, (as I said dry as a bone) UN salvageable with simply greasing. Grease wont help neglected U joints! good luck
