No, you should not have any clunks or noises.
One thing I have noticed through my own ownership and others is if the CVJ goes bad and people do not replace it right away (drive forever with a torn boot and wait for the axle to start to wobble) it takes out the hub in short order too.
Might want to check for a sway bar problem with the wheels turned sharply.
Check for slop in the upper control arm bushings and see if they are splayed.
