I have seen a P pump on a highly modified Powerstroke in a pulling truck. I know there is a company the has pictures of one on their website (high performace International engine builder of some sorts). I am looking at a 1996 F-250 with a Powerstroke and would like to eventually build a p-pumped twin turbo engine for it if I buy it. Does anyone have any information or links on this?
Yep, that is the truck and that is the web-site. If I decide to build something like this I am going to find a core to rebuild so I can still drive the truck. Well, that is if I buy the truck. Hopefully in the next two or three days we will agree on a price. What are the diffenences in the in the 1994.5 though 2003 7.3 Powerstrokes? Is there a certain year of core I should look for?
Well some time has passed since I last posted. Here is an update. I have since bought the truck. It turns out it is a 1997 F-250 HD (Extened cab, long bed, 4x4, auto trans). I got the truck for a good price as it had a snapped rear axle shaft. I have since replaced the rear axle and driven the truck around the block. The body is a little rough, but lucky for me I have a cousin that does body work. I think I might have found a source for an inline pump. I happened to stop at a Massey Fergeson tractor dealership where there were two a tractor that had v-8 diesels in them. One had a rotary pump and the other an inline pump. It was hard to tell if it was a Bosch pump or not. The good news is I kown of a tractor salvage yard that has two of these tractors setting in it. So when the time permits I am going to see if the pumps are still on them and if they are Bosch pumps. I would like to hear anyones ideas on injuctors. When I get liscens and insurance on it, it will become my daily driver so I can't take the heads off or the injectors out and take mesurements. If this project takes off the ground I will build this motor from a core and not the engine in the truck. I would still like to know if there is a certain year of 7.3 I sould look for? Did the heads remain the same or where there changes?
I believe the IH 9 liter V-8 engines that IH put in their trucks had a Bosch inline pump in them. Some IH tractors also used the same engine but I'm not sure which pump they used.
