Does anyone happen to know off hand what size socket is required to lift the serpentine belt idler pulley on at 1998 3.0L Ranger? If your wondering why I ask it’s because I don’t want to spend anymore time than possible outside in the cold replacing my belt. I guess old age is catching up with me.
Are you talking about the tensioner pulley? I believe it's a 15mm... but some have a 3/8" square hole you just put a ratchet in (with no socket).
If you're hearing a belt-squeal noise.. with the old belt off.. before installing the new belt.. start it up for a few seconds.. if the noise is still present (with no belt installed) they your cam-sensor synchronizer is making the noise (at the back of the motor... it goes where the distributor used to go but must be installed in the same exact position as the old one, or it'll screw up your injection timing, run like junk, and set off the check engine light)
