I have installed a 429/c6 combo in my 55 f-100 and am looking for a floor mounted or through the floor shifter, so far the 23 inch tall Lokar and Gennie shifters look like the best choices. Just looking for input on either or other recommendations
For ease of install I went with the B&M Quicksilver shifter. It operates on a cable so there is no need to mess with linkages/ clearances, just bolts to the floor and connect the cable to the transmission. I also prefer the performance street rod looks it gives to the interior versus a long stick coming up from the floor. Just my opinion... Plus I have the ratchet shifting when someone pulls next to me who thinks he's fast.
I have the 23" Lokars in my panel and pickup and (bucket seats) like them a lot.
Lots of adjustments possible...just put it where you like it and then cut the center floor trans cover as necessary. Nice having those seperate center covers, making it very easy to work with.
I had a shop force the mechanism out of park, bending a small part....I gave them instructions, but where I live reading is not popular....anyway, I shipped it UPS back to Lokar and they fixed it and UPSd it back to me for free. That was a nice touch.

You and I have so much in common it's almost scary I'm running the same B&M Quicksilver shifter, too.
Any time you have a high performance engine/tranny package, go with a ratchet shifter, (especially if you have a shift kit or manual/automatic valve body), you won't be sorry. There are other companies out there as well, such as Hurst and TCI.
