temperture gauge not working!
I have a 1979 f150 with 80k original miles. When I first start the truck the temperature gauge swings to the far right in an overheated state. The truck is cold after setting for 24 hours. Gradually the needle returns to the center but once warm goes to the far right again. Is this the sending unit or gauge? I opened the radiator cap while hot and the temp of the coolant was 180 so the truck is not over heated.
