Getting it back together?
I'm trying to get my truck ready to put the new fuel injectors in it and was wondering about the best way to make sure the cylinders are free of oil and fuel. I was told by a guy at the parts store you can turn the engine over with the injectors out of the heads and let the oil and fuel in the cylinders shoot out. He said it's messy but it works. Just want to be sure it's safe.

Check both of those links for good tips. You will want the injectors in and the GP's out then turn by hand and it is a mess

If you have all of the injectors out, put them all in. It's better if you take one out at a time, and then replace it with a new one. Remove all of the glow plugs,and manually crank the engine over to get the oil out. Place some heavy cardboard and rags over the cylinder head, the stuff really shoots out fast. Then turn the engine over manually with the crank, a few revs. Then crank the engine over with the starter to get the remaining stuff out. Once you have that out, the oil left is not enough to hydrolock the engine. You will get some blue smoke and white smoke as the injectors make their first strokes.
